Do motorcycle tires have treadwear ratings?
Editorial Comment:
Treadwear rating are part of the UTQGS requirements of the US governments Department of Transport regulations for vehicle tires approved for sale in the United States.
These regulations, as far as we have seen do not include treadwear testing for motorcycle tires.
Some tires do include wear bars, which are raised portions of the tread located between tread blocks on about 4 locations around the circumference of the tire to show when the tire has worn down and needs to be replaced. These, however, do not provide any indication of how durable the tires might be, as the treadwear rating on car tires do.
