Tire Concerns: Tire produced in USA and sold in Europe

I would like to know if is any regulation of tire marking and testing for noise, and tread wear for ATV and trialer tires that are produced in USA and presented to European Market. Is there any testing and marking procedures available?

Editorial Comment:
Ever since July 1997, tires which are sold for use in Europe carry what is called an E-mark.

This mark can be either an upper case "E" or lower case "e" – followed by a number enclosed in a circle or a rectangle, followed by a further number.

The upper case "E" means that the tire is meets the dimensional, performance and marking requirements of ECE regulation 30.

A lower case "e" means the tire is certified to comply with the dimensional, performance and marking requirements of another directive: 92/23/EEC.

In the circle or rectangle, the number signifies the code for the country which provided the approval.

A final number which is located outside the circle or rectangle is a code for the type of approval certificate issued for that spefic tire size and type.

I hope this helps a bit. If you need more information you might try to contact the ETRTO, which is the European Tire and Rubber Technical Organization.

testing parameters for European market tires
by: Zoran

Thanks for sharing opinions. Yes, there is regulation in order to have tire sidewall marked "E" , similar to DOT stamp on USA produced tires.
I would like to know what testing parameters for noise, tread wear etc, are in order to have tire pass test before could be certified and marked as E"

For DOT test there is Test procedure such as FMVSS119, 138, 139 with shown parameters etc and I am trying to find out what testing parameters are for European market. The ETRTO book includes only tire sizes ,load, pressure such TRA book in USA.
