Tire Concerns: mix match brands of tires

Can you mix match brands of tires on navigators all wheel drive Our tire store said that you cannot!

Editorial Comment:

Just to make sure I understand your concern, I think you are wondering if it is OK to install different brands of tires on different wheels of an all wheel drive vehicle. In this case a Lincoln Navigator.

The important thing on any all wheel drive vehicle is that they are all the same size. Possibly the dealer misunderstood what you were asking and thought you were asking about installing different sizes.

Now, if you have one brand of tires on your vehicle and change only two, instead of all four sol that you have 2 new tires and two used tires this is not a good idea because the two new tires because they have not been used will be larger than the used ones. This doesn't matter what brand the tires are.

If you are changing 2 tires (or any number other than all 4) the tires you put on must be the same size on all 4 wheels. The BRAND of tire doesn't matter, it is the SIZE that counts.
