would having p185 65r14 tires on a saturn that calls for p175 70r14 tires make the speedometer register 8 mph slow. I got pulled for doing 80 in a 65, and my speedometer only said 72.

Editorial Comment:

If your speedometer showed you were doing 72 you were still speeding along at more than 71 mph because the error produced by using 185/65R14 tires on a car calibrated to use 175/70R14 tires would be 0.75%. That is your real speed would be LESS than what your speedometer reads by 0.75%.

For the purposes of speedometer reading these tires are a very close match to the OEM tires on the Saturn.
