Mismatched tires in the rear.

2009 Dodge Ram 1500
I have a Dodge Ram 4x4 1500 truck. I recently got this truck going again after replacing the rear axle w/a used one. Anyhow, I have 245/75r/16 on the both front & left rear. On the right rear, I have a 265/75R/16. Will it have any effect on my rear differential axle? My stock size all way around were 225/75R/16s. I use this truck in 2 wheel drive only for the time being.
The common recommendation for 4x4 vehicles is to always have the same size tire on all wheels, but if you never use the 4 wheel drive you may get away with mixing the sizes provided you keep the same size on each axle. Even with 2 wheel drive vehicle it is not a good idea to mix sizes on the same axle so, in your case I'd recommend that you at least take the two tires you have on the left size and locate them on your drive axle and then put two of the same sized tires on the other axle -- preferably the same size all around.
If you don't do this you may find yourself needing to replace another differential much sooner than you would like.
