Michelin Defender 215/65r16 tires

Can I put Michelin defender 215/65r16 tires on my 2009 honda element? My element calls for 215/70r16.

Just got a steal on these tires, but unsure it they will cause an issue on my element.

Editorial Comment:

The 215/65 R16 tire is, if you notice the second number, just slightly lower than the 215/70 R16 tire.

The difference is 5% (70-65=5) of 215 mm, or just under 11mm which is about 1/2 inch if you're not familiar with metric measurements. Being just slightly smaller will not cause any problems with space, but it will cause the speedometer to show that you are travelling faster than your real speed, and will also result in a small increase in fuel use due to the shorter distance that the car will travel on each rotation of the wheel.
