tire markings = 245/60r18 105H SL Assur CS Trptrd.

What does the 105 mean?

What does the SL and CS mean?

Also it does not have marks before the 245 such as P for passenger or LT for light truck, why not?

Editorial Comment:

Let's deal with your questions about Goodyear 245/60r18 105H SL Assur CS Tripletread tires as you asked them.

What does the 105 mean? The 105 is the load index which means that this tire is designed to support up to 2039 pounds or 925 kilograms. "H" is the Speed rating (up to 130 mph).

What does the SL and CS mean?

I haven't found a clear consensus of what SL means. Many people maintain that it's short for Standard Load pressure which means that you would carry a tire pressure of 35 psi.

Also it does not have marks before the 245 such as P for passenger or LT for light truck, why not?

Sizes which do not have anything preceding the size are considered to be sizes which originated in Europe.

Hope this helps you out.

Your Assurance Tires

You were given good information about the nominclature printed on the sidewall of your tire, however, I think you should also know Goodyear's unique use of CS in their name of this tire which in their words means: "Tread design is adapted to meet the needs of CUVs and SUVs".

I also wish to add a detail about the load index: that load is appropriate at the maximum recommended pressure also printed on the sidewall. In this case it is more likely to be 44psi rather than the suggested running pressure of 35psi. You would want to increase the pressure to that maximum if you approach this load in your vehicle. That is, when you reach some 8,000 lbs total you should have 44psi in each tire.

You picked a really nice tire, take good care of them and you will get really good service.
