Discount Tire: I love them, but GET A QUOTE in writing!
(Tacoma, WA, USA)
I've been a regular customer at Discount tire for the past several years, and I love those guys (to a point).
I love their prices (they'll beat anyone's price) and I also like that even if they don't stock a tire or wheel, they can get almost any brand of tire and wheel on the planet if it's still made!
I'm getting ready to buy my 4th set of tires and wheels from Discount in just 2 years (all different cars), and now I have my brother buying from them all the time.
They're friendly, very fast (once they pull your car in), and work as a team. It's not uncommon to watch 4 guys work on a car at the same time! 1 unboxing/mounting tires & wheels, 1 removing from car, 1 balancing, and 1 remounting new ones! They can be done with 4 new tires & wheels in 10 minutes! And rotations are never an issue. As are retorques or any other issues.
Okay, now for the BAD: Almost every time I get a price for tires, wheels, or both I like it. But when I'm done and driving away, I'll look at the invoice and see that even though they lowered the price of a tire or wheel, they made up for it in added costs of other things like lock/lug packages, road hazard warranties, balancing, "State Required Fees" (even if you take your old ones with you), etc.
In fact, my last set of tires & wheels they charged my $50 for Gorilla locks that sell in stores for $30! Even worse is almost every key fits almost every other Gorilla "lock"!!! In fact ALL my brother's fit ALL mine and vise-versa! I suggest buying McGard locks and taking them in with you!
So although I will continue to shop at Discount Tire because of their low prices and great service, I warn you all to GET A WRITTEN QUOTE UP FRONT, and look it over before you hand them your keys!
ASK what EACH individual charge is and why you are being charged for it. Buyer Beware! If you're careful, I assure you that you WILL become a repeat customer of Discount/America's Tire!
