1988 Yokohama enters into a heavy truck
tire manufacturing joint venture with General Tire and Toyo
Tire. The company, GTY Tire, is located in Mt. Vernon, IL.
1989 Yokohama acquires the Mohawk
Rubber Company. and merges in 1992.
New plant begins production in Salem,
VA. This plant produces 70% of the passenger tires Yokohama sells in
