Yokohama Rubber Company is
the seventh largest tire manufacturer in the
world.
In 1969 Yokohama Tire Corporation
was established in the U.S. and now has over
4500 points of sale in the country.
Some highlights:

1969 The Yokohama Rubber Co.,
Ltd. opens first facility in Montebello,
CA.

1972 G.T. Special Products
offered in the U.S.

1986 moved to Fullerton,
CA.

1988 Yokohama enters into a
heavy truck tire manufacturing joint venture
with General Tire and Toyo Tire.
The company, GTY Tire, is located in Mt.
Vernon, IL.

1989 Yokohama acquires the
Mohawk Rubber Company. and merges in
1992.

New plant begins production in
Salem, VA. This plant produces 70% of the
passenger tires Yokohama sells in the
U.S.
