Let me start out that I bought four tires at Walmart 3 1/2 years ago and they were BF Goodrich T/A's 70,000 mile tires.
My wife found a nail in one today and went to Walmart to get it repaired since we paid, I believe, $15 for road hazard per tire. After she got off work she went to go get it repaired.
They told her that they couldn't plug the tire because the tire had weather cracking on the tread.
I thought my wife was out of her mind when she told me this. So we went to Wally World and the tirewoman told me that it was Walmarts policy to not remove a wheel from a car that had a tire with weather cracking. She said that if she fixed it in the future we could have a blow out.
I've always thought that when you plug a tire it weakens it a little bit. I asked her so if the tire was going to be prorated since it only had 40,000 miles on it.
Yep, you guessed it, she said that weather cracking was not covered on tire warranties. So I told her That Walmart sucked and this is why I will NEVER spend another penny at a Walmart store.
I also said that they should be ashamed to sell tires and offer warranties on them if they weren't going to honor the warranty or fix the tire. I was there for probably 15 minutes ranting on how I bought four 70,000 mile tires which according to them were not repairable because of "weather cracking".
I made sure that I had a good crowd around me while I let them know that when they walk out of the store they were on there own.
Everyone go look in between the tread of your tires and I bet most of you have "weather cracking."
So I go 1/4 mile down the street to Big O Tire and the salesman said that they get a lot of people that come straight from Wally World pissed of because they don't care about their customers.
And you know what, they fixed the tire despite of this mysterious "weather cracking" plague that's been going around, FOR FREE.
