Tires go to the Ballet

Well it wasn't a place I expected to see a tire, but some years ago, I was looking forward to a night of good ballet by American Ballet Theatre; I'd gotten a good seat, bought a new dress, decided on a good place for dinner before the show.
Dinner was great and I made my way to the Metropolitan Opera House with anticipation. It was an evening of works by choreographer Twyla Tharp, and the new ballet on the program was called "Everlast", a ballet about a prizefighter.
It was all right, I wasn't thrilled with it, but there were some good performances; however upon the entry of a female dancer costumed as a very large tire I was fascinated. All you saw other than this large tire costume was the lower halves of her legs in the pointe shoes.
I don't remember anything else that happened in the ballet, how long it was, how good it was, I just couldn't think of anything else but this young lady in the enormous tire costume. She really deserved a medal for a great effort in a difficult piece of costuming!
