Tire Warehouse: Which Tire Warehouse? Part
2
Return to Part 1
Two tires in ten minutes. That's what the Tire Warehouse
website claims to be able to do. It's quite a catchy gimmick
that got my attention, perhaps it will catch yours, too. It's
similar to something a well known pizza company used to do.
In fact, there's a few more enticements in this company's
little bag of tricks that set it apart from their competition.
How about their semi self service, where customers get to
remove their own lug nuts using Tire Warehouse equipment and
save a little bit of money?

I'm not sure what to think of the self service idea, but
there are a several that make this rapidly developing
organization stand out.
Want Free 24 Hour Emergency Roadside Assistance?
Now this is a winning idea! When you purchase a new
passenger car tire or light truck tire at Tire Warehouse you
get free roadside assistance. It's good anywhere in the U.S.
and Canada and free to customers. That's a great sounding deal
unless you've got Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Marty McFly's
DeLorean in your garage and intending to fly to the moon or
back in time with your vehicle.
They also offer road hazard protection if your tires are
damaged. This service gives clients free repair or replacement
if their tires are damaged.
With any gimmick you need to understand what's being
promised and the limitations. There are no disclaimers or
contract details which are easily found on their website so
that makes this difficult. I'm a big fan of transparency and think a business that's serious about empowering
their customers will make full information easily available prior to a purchase. Slipping
the customer a finely worded contract on them when the sale
button is pressed on the register, is not a great idea, to me.
Make sure you ask about the details of how this works and what it
covers.
So What's All the Fuss About Nitrogen Inflation?
Nitrogen is becoming a more and more widely used replacement for
standard air in tires. The air we breathe is 78% nitrogen, 21%
oxygen and the rest is a mix of various other gases.
When used to inflate tires, nitrogen has a lot of positives,
returning more favorable results to air because oxygen tends to
escape the tires much faster. Nitrogen tire inflation improves
a vehicle's handling, its fuel efficiency and the life of the
tires because of better tire pressure retention and also cooler
running temperatures.
I could ramble on about this for hours, if you're really
interested read about it at Nitrogen Inflation.
At the present most tire dealers who supply nitrogen charge
for it each time you top up. At Tire Warehouse they give you
free Nitrogen top ups, but I'm hoping it won't be long until
this becomes free just as we've become accustomed to with air
for tires.
