cupping on the inside tread of the rear tires
by: Anonymous

I have a 08 Nissan Sentra and the first set of tires that came with the vehicle, wore out within 30000 miles. The next set was bought through sears , Goodyear/ assurance tires which were supposed to last longer. 35000 miles and the REAR tires are cupped so bad on the inside tread that when I drive the car there's so much noise I can hardly hear the radio. Sears mechanics said that maybe I didn't rotate them enough, or that I needed new shocks.
Have any ideas on how this happened or how to prevent this in the future??

Editorial Comment:

From the sounds of things you're going on over 60,000 without ever changing shocks. If you haven't and--depending on your road conditions--I would almost be willing to give you odds that the problem is being caused by problems with shocks.

At least, inspect your shocks every 20,000 miles, and if you find just one in poor condition, replace both sides, otherwise you're going to have the other one go fairly soon which will place an extra load on the new one causing it to wear even faster.
