Tire Concerns: tyre replacement

Can a 205/70/15 replace a 215/80/15?

Comment:

Some people feel that replacing tyres with tires is OK, others have a problem with that.

Check out our Tire Size Calculator to see the difference between the two sizes you have mentioned and you'll see that the 205/70 is both lower and narrower than the 215/80 tire, regardless of how you spell it. Whether of not you wish to accept the consequences of the switch is up to you, but we usually don't recommend that you install a tire which is more than 2% different in overall size.

You need to check the size on the 215/80 R 15. I am not familiar with that size and the 80 is often referred to as the old configuration of bias tires. There is no comparison to the 205/70 R 15 and will probably result in a poor fit. If you are trying to use the 205 instead of the 215/70 R 15 it will likely work but again it does not perform as well.
