Tire Concerns: Reliability of Remington XT-120 CTR Tires

by Adrien
(Canberra, Australia)

I imported a 1966 Ford Mustang GT coupe to Australia from the US.

The car is shod with four new-looking Remington XT-120 CTR tires. I would just like to know the general suitability and reliability of these tires on a 44 year old car.

Editorial Comment:

It's difficult to give a useful evaluation of your specific tires based on the general information you've provided.

Although the tires are new looking, you might want to at least determine their age by looking at the last four characters of the DOT sequence on the side wall. These will tell you the week and year (WWYY) of manufacture -- the last two digits being the last two digits of the year. If, perchance, the total DOT sequence is only 11 characters long you'd use only the last 3, but it would mean your tires were manufactured before 2000 and would be too old to be considered reliable, no matter what they appear to be.
