Currently my 1995 Saab 900 se has 205 60 15. What would be the lowest profile tire I could get to fit properly? Also what would be other tire size options if I were just looking to expand the ptions to find a less expensive tire?
Comment:
I would expect that in lowering the profile you want to have the sidewall of the tire look slimmer than they do now.
At the same time, keep in mind that the most satisfactory tire changes, unless you want to experiment with different handling and other characteristics is to seek to keep the closest outside tire diameter to the original tire.
To achieve this you need to get into Plus Sizing, which increases the diameter of the rim on which the tire is mounted.
We are currently testing a Tire Size Calculator which we hope to release in the next week or two but, in the meantime, take a look at Plus Sizing to get a general idea of what you need to do.
If you are looking for a really low profile you might get down as low as 30 by going to an 18 inch wheel. When you do this, however, you are not likely to be able to find cheap tires, and in addition you're likely having to fork out a parcel of dollars for the new wheels too.
