Thanks for the great response to my question about the tire sizes from the Pontiac to the Jetta. I'm keeping the Jetta tires and waiting until I can afford new ones...As for the Pontiac's someone will enjoy a new set of tores even though the old Pontiac has gone on to greener pastures...:)

Your Wheels
by: Wheels Etc

I seriously doubt you can simply move the tires with wheels from the Pontiac to the Jetta. As it happens, the bolt pattern is the same however, the center bore may not be right and for sure the disc brake caliper will keep the wheel from fitting up to the hub on the front axel. The Jetta moved from 13" to 14" then to 15" as they increased the size of the brakes. They are normally very close tolerance and do not allow for error. I am not sure about the disc brakes on the rear so you could get lucky and be able to bolt them directly on the rear. It is worth the try but be very sure there is no rubbing against the inside of the wheel well. A small amount of spacing can be added to compensate for a slight difference in the center hole etc. This may give you the chance to use two at a time. Be sure to store the other two in a closed bag in a cool dry garage. It could be a couple of years before you get to use the other two. You should also check the date indicated by the last four digits of the DOT number. They are the week then the year of manufacture. If the 14s were purchased recently that will not be the problem.
In the event this does not result in your ability to use these tires I suggest you offer the newer tires for sale without the wheels on Craigslist or the Recycler and look for nice used 15s. My son has found lots of tires for his VW online at user groups for his Passats. You VW owners are pretty nice to other VW owners. I am also part of large used tire dealer network in the High Desert and for sure there are a lot of 195/65 R 15s available so that is another option. By the way the 14s are in good demand so you will have no trouble getting a good price for them. You might even find the 15s for less than you get for the 14s.
