Riken Raptor Tires

I have a 1999 Mercedes CLK 430 with 17" wheels.

If you look around the forums, this car has a reputation for eating up expensive tires. Particularly because this car has staggered set wheels with directional tires.

No rotating.

Well, I really did not want to spend 1,000-$1,500 per set every 10,000 miles.

The guys at Autotire hooked me up with Riken tires. At first I though they were no name, but it turns out they are owned by Michelin.

They cost just under $500, installed (for all four).

My last set lasted 23,000 miles, which is huge for this car.

I would recommend checking out this brand.

I've been looking at these tires!

I appreciate your write-up! It's good to know you like them on a performance car like your BMW. However, you failed to mention what it was about them that you liked. How is wet weather traction? Are they quite or noisy? Do they have good grip? Any hydroplaning on wet highways?

I've been seriously considering the Raptor ZR because it looks like such a GREAT tire for wet highway usage, which is something I drive on a LOT.

I'm going to use your review in helping decide to buy or not buy these, but more specifics of what you like most about them would certainly help.

Thanks! Enjoy your BMW! :)
