Stay Away from NEXEN
by: Anonymous

I have a 2003 Acura CL 3.2 and when it was time to replace my existing Kuhmos' I thought I would save a few bucks and go to Nexen. I have put about 30,000 miles on the Nexens, and let me tell you, I would rather ride around on my bald Kuhmo's than have the Nexen's on my ride again. It doesn't matter what the ride conditions are, dry, wet, or snow, these tires are absolutely worthless. Absolutely zero traction! Breaking and handling have been severely impaired ever since I put these POS’s on my car. As hard as it is to imagine, but a rear wheel drive car with racing slicks has better winter traction than my front wheeled Acura clad in Nexen rubber. I can’t wait until I can get these things off my car.

Whatever you do, stay away from the Nexen product. The rubber and construction are both sub-standard. You get what you pay for. I didn’t pay a lot, and guess what, I didn’t get much either. If you ever get a choice between getting kicked in the balls or putting a free set of Nexen’s on your ride, take the kick in the balls, it will be a lot less painful.

Best Tire I have ever had
by: Nexen lover in Maryland

purchased four P235 70R16 Nexen Roadian HT for my 2006 Toyota Highlander at 45,000 miles 2 years ago. Now have 106,000 and its time to replace them, although if it were not winter I'd keep them another 10K. These have lasted a ligit 61,000 miles and were rotated twice. I am online now looking to buy 4 more. Russ from Maryland

Nexen 5000
by: JY

All
I have driven an Eagle Talon an Mazda RX7 and a Honda 650 Silver Wing... fairly agressively... for an average guy. Currently have an Intrepid SXT and a Grand Caravan SXT.

The Nexen 5000s I put on the front of my Grand Caravan have done great, NB - a front end heavy vehicle (started with 2 vs 4 because I didn't know what to expect... so I am testing them). So far, very quiet, good grip (even in intense rain at 130km / hr), good looking tire, and wear is fine after 10,000 km, with good alignement and new tie rods.

Sarcasm here... but I am not a burning rubber type ... capiche all you beat up Honda Civic back caps?!

NB - This is a faster "H" rated tire vs recommended "T" rating (for my vehicles) but they still have an expected wear rating of 130km. Stiffer rubber, less sticky / less racy performance, yet OK grab & better durabilty... bang on for my needs. Perfectly happy so far.

The only thing bugging me is they are identified with "Walmart" (image issue vs the Pirelli gang) and I find them a bit expensive @ $122 Can (215-65-16)... Hey Walmart, where's the deal vs equivalent USA prices?

PS - if you think that's expensive (you are right), this is Canada ay... . Depending on springtime promo deals, I will proably be getting 2 more for the back of the van and am considering them for the Intrepid.

On the van I a comparing to past experience with Bridgestone Turanza and on the Intrepid with Toyo 800 Touring. Goodyear Eagle on the RX7 and the Eagle Talon. NB - Around here looking at $154 ++ for Toyo 800 touring or GoodYear equivalent after sopping around. Michelin X-1 @ $136++ at Costco. Hope this helps. Cheers! JY

Love my Nexen Tyres
by: Anonymous

I have Nexen 5000's on my VW Golf TDI. I don't race but I do drive fast and love the precision of these tyres. No under- or over-steering, no squealing, and excellent in the wet. I know drivers who have these tyres on Porsches and rave about them. They are sensitive to tyre pressure, so they get checked every week and before long trips. I'm getting Nexen Winter tyres before the snow hits, and I've heard good reports about them too. Looks like we're overcharged for the "traditional", old-name tyres like Michelin.
