I am considering to replace the my 2002 VW Jetta VR-6 GLX (stock tire size is 205/ 55 R 16) currently I have 215/55 R-16 and it seems to be ok. Now I wanted to replace all four tires and I am considering 225/50 R-16 on the original rim.
Is there going to be any issue with this tires? is this change recommended?

Editorial Comment:
The tire you propose to use is actually a closer match to your original tire than the one you are now using which is slightly higher.
The only issue which might arise would be because of the wider width of the new tire, which is 20 mm more than the original (almost an inch) and there could be a problem with space. Try mounting one and see if this rubs or binds, especially when turning the steering wheel to the extremes on both sides. If there is still free space, you should be OK.
Also ask your dealer if they know of any other cases where this change has been made. They may have some experience which would be useful.
